I thought the wheels on these could either be removed or be tucked up to allow for normal walking. They can only be removed. So if your child isn't planning on continuously heeling when the wheels are in, I'd exercise a lot of caution and make sure that a helmet is on. Our daughter wore them and almost fell about a dozen or so times as she tried to walk since the wheel protrudes out. Her feet also hurt in them.
