I bought these shoes two months ago after a knee injury. I hike briskly, mostly over irregular hard surfaces and some wet, grassy rolling terrain. I wanted a shoe with mid-ankle height and an aggressive tread that would also cushion my step. When I tried them on I could feel the difference in the cushion. The heel has a subtle up-slope at the rear that should handle my walking style without slipping or premature wear. The fit was comfortable from day one. Also, my girlfriend says she loves the style and the Dark Chocolate color. One drawback: Now I have to clean off the mud and grass after my walk every morning because I want to wear these boots the rest of the day.
