I am being told it will be three months (minimum) to get a replacement backboard after I broke mine during assembly (I followed instructions very carefully, but they left out a warning). I would look to other companies, because Spalding has no control over their China manufacturing facilities.

Along with the glass backboard being a much better surface than acrylic (acrylic noticeably deadens ball movement), one of the nicest features of this model is that it doesn't sway like many of those with tilted round poles. This isn't so much due to the pole's shape as it is to do with how it's fixed to the base; the 68454 is just more stable.
It's better to fill the base with sand (can get bags of it from home improvement stores) as opposed to water (in colder climates freeze/thaw cycles will expand/contract the water and possibly crack the base), as you don't have as much to worry about the backboard crashing if a small leak develops. Though it's hard to get the 3 main pole pieces together; once the system is complete, it looks very cool with the NBA Logos on the glass and "strut guard", and the protective padding on the backboard underside not only adds to that - its a useful feature. Speaking of features, the screw jack is very easy to operate and have read that it is better than helix systems (reported by two different users that the backboard falls when hit by a ball or during a dunk).
So combine stability, playability, function, looks and price: it's a GREAT portable system!
